Training is only a small part of our daily lives and every day life can be complicated and demanding. When you work with Tabula Rasa Racing, you get to rely on the experience and expertise of your coach as it pertains to managing your athletic progress and all you need to do is execute the plan.

The Return to Sport (RTS) is a program designed to help an athlete return to training after an extended period away from the sport or coming off an injury. The process of returning to training after an injury or an extended time away can be frustrating. It can sometimes feels like one step forward, two steps back. Tabula Rasa Racing can help you return to the sport you love.
At Tabula Rasa Racing, we take great care in managing athlete training load and pay special attention to the athlete's ability to absorb the fitness gains we are working so hard to achieve. It is really important to be patient when resuming training after an extended time off.
RTS Plans are single-sport plans in either running, cycling, swimming, or hiking. The athlete has an extensive consultation with Coach Justin to discuss things like training volume and intensity prior to suspension of training, how long has training been suspended, description of the injury if the return to sport is due to injury, and how does resuming training fit into your “real life”. Coach Justin uses this information to map out a custom training plan, in its entirety, for the athlete to follow. The duration of the plan is determined by information from the consultation and any other limiting factors.

After the consultation is completed, Coach Justin will reach out via email with an expected date of when the plan will be available. The time it takes to develop the plan is subject to several unknowns such as the complexity and duration of the plan. Plans are disseminated using the Training Peaks platform in its entirety.

Returning to training after an injury can be more complicated than the resumption of training after taking some time off. Because of this difference, the way we manage the training plan for RTS due to injury is slightly different compared to how we manage the training plan for RTS due to time off.
If the athlete is resuming training because of an injury, then the training plan is monitored and feedback is provided on training sessions by Coach Justin. Minor adjustments can be made to the training plan based on how the body reacts to returning to training and these adjustments are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Lifestyle complications will not trigger a plan adjustment.
